01 — Context

The brief.

FINEST was preparing to launch Issue 01 of an annual print journal on independent design practice. They had 240 pages of essays, portraits and archives — and no visual grammar to hold it together.

02 — Strategy

The solution.

We wrote a print system before we set a single page: two typefaces, one grid, three rules of pacing. The result is a journal that carries its authority through white space rather than ornament — a magazine that trusts its readers to slow down.
